Celebrations and Observances

• Father’s Day: Celebrated on the third Sunday of June, Father’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for fathers and father figures. It’s a day to recognize their contributions and express gratitude for their love and support.

• Juneteenth: Observed on June 19th, Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It’s a time for reflection, education, and celebration of African American culture and heritage.

• Summer Solstice: Occurring around June 21st, the Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is celebrated in various cultures as a time of fertility, growth, and abundance.

• World Environment Day: On June 5th, we recognize World Environment Day, an opportunity to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage sustainable practices to protect our planet.

• Pride Month: June is celebrated as Pride Month, a time to honor the LGBTQ+ community and advocate for equal rights. It’s a month of parades, events, and educational initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and acceptance.

• Black Music Month: established in June 1979 by President Jimmy Carter to recognize and celebrate the contributions of African American musicians and their impact on American culture and music. This initiative aimed to highlight the rich history of Black music, which encompasses various genres such as jazz, blues, gospel, R&B, and hip-hop, and to acknowledge the struggles and achievements of Black artists throughout history.

• State Farm Founder's Day: June 7- celebrating 103 years of giving back and being there when it matters most!

When I'm not at the office, I enjoy traveling and volunteering. I am actively involved with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, contributing to community initiatives, and volunteering at church activities.

Although my family is spread across GA, MS, Chicago, NYC and Arizona, I cherish the time I spend with them and the connections I have built here in Hoover.
